We have reported repeatedly that a long-awaited landing pad for the Polish Medical Air Rescue helicopters will be built on the premises of the Bolesławiec Health Care Complex in Bolesławiec. It is also known that the facility itself will be built on the roof of our Hospital Emergency Department.

What will it achieve?

First, regulations require this type of landing pad to operate at our hospital. Second, it will shorten patient transport times. (Currently, LPR helicopters land either on the premises of the Bolesławiec military unit, in the city of Bolesławiec, or in nearby municipalities, and do so in very different weather conditions.)

Moreover, because the helicopters will land in a place adapted for this purpose, the safety of both transported patients and the rescuers themselves will improve. As Kamil Barczyk, head of the Bolesławiec Health Care Complex, emphasizes, this investment is absolutely necessary for the operation of the county hospital in Bolesławiec.

What work will begin?

Kamil Barczyk hopes that the Ministry of Health will allocate funding for this purpose later this year and that work will begin in 2022. If everything goes according to plan, the first LPR helicopters will then be able to land on the premises of the Health Care Complex in the first half of the following year.

How much will it cost?

Unfortunately, since the Hospital Emergency Department building itself is not among the newest, the landing pad will require a lightweight supporting structure and pillars, which will significantly increase the cost of the project. It is expected to cost approximately PLN 20 million.
