A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday evening, at approximately 7:38 p.m., between Chościszowice and Kraśnik Dolny.
Police have now provided details of the tragic incident. According to the officers’ preliminary findings, the 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen was overtaking when he lost control of the vehicle.
The car went into a roadside ditch, scraped against a tree, then overturned and hit another tree.
As a result of the accident, three passengers were transported to hospitals. The 18-year-old was taken to a hospital in Bolesławiec, while the 21-year-old was transported by the Polish Medical Air Rescue service to a hospital in Zielona Góra.
Unfortunately, despite the rescue efforts, the 19-year-old passenger died as a result of his injuries.
Five people were travelling in the car. All five were Ukrainian citizens.
Police officers worked at the scene, carrying out procedural activities. Officers are currently determining the exact circumstances and causes of the accident.
Police also reported that, according to the preliminary findings, the passengers travelling in the back seat were not wearing seat belts.
The rescue operation involved, among others, units of JRG Bolesławiec and OSP KSRG Krzyżowa, emergency medical teams, police and the Polish Medical Air Rescue service.
