More and more Poles admit that Easter is simply a longer holiday weekend. They can travel and spend it in an entirely secular way. Every year, travel agencies report an increase in foreign trips during this period. Poles travel to warm countries, preferring inexpensive offers to Egypt and Tunisia.

Easter is also becoming increasingly commercialized. People buy painted eggs and all the decorations for the baskets used to have food blessed at the supermarket. Stores offer holiday promotions to attract customers to shopping centres, while television stations compete with one another by offering entertainment programmes and films to keep as many people as possible in front of their televisions.

The secularization of Poland is gradually becoming a fact, and the official belief that more than 90% of Poles are Catholics should be reconsidered in a serious debate.
