The duty officer at the Lubin police headquarters received information from a municipal cemetery security employee about a man who was behaving inappropriately on the cemetery grounds. Junior Asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the press team of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław:
A preventive patrol was sent to intervene. At the location indicated by security staff, officers found a 24-year-old man who had lit a fire between the graves and was also drinking alcohol.
What is more, it emerged that the young partygoer had smashed grave candles and destroyed flower arrangements from one of the graves. Furthermore, during his solitary drinking binge, the 24-year-old lay on someone’s grave and scattered empty alcohol bottles and grave candles around the cemetery.
But that was not all. The drunkard not only lit a fire on the cemetery grounds, but also… grilled sausages.
It was also established that the drunk bothered people who came to the cemetery to visit their loved ones. And although cemetery employees chased him away and admonished him, he always returned to the same place.
The 24-year-old eventually ended up in a police cell. He was charged with three offenses. He faces up to two years in prison.
