Bolesławiec traffic police arrested a 31-year-old resident of Żagań County after a chase. KPP:
The driver of a van ignored the signals given by a police patrol and turned onto a side road, trying to avoid a traffic stop. When the driver no longer had any chance to escape, he tried to mislead the officers by moving to the passenger seat.
They added:
In the vehicle, at the steering wheel, the officers found an open can of beer.
The ruse failed. The officers knew perfectly well that the 31-year-old had been behind the wheel. The detained man was drunk; a test showed 1.6 per mille of alcohol in his system. The result? He immediately lost his driving licence.
What is more, the resident of the neighboring county now faces up to five years in prison.
