Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration Paweł Szefernaker during Saturday’s conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister:
We have concluded a meeting with city mayors and agreed on a common operating model. Registration for refugees from Ukraine who want to remain in Poland and be assigned a PESEL number will begin on Wednesday, March 16. Registration will be conducted by municipalities.
The deputy minister addressed refugees from Ukraine:
You will receive full support from the day you crossed the border. The date on which you submit your application does not affect the assistance you receive. This is a very important undertaking for the functioning of the entire state administration. Representatives and employees of central government offices will support local authorities in carrying out this registration.
The deputy minister added that starting Wednesday, March 16, residents who have taken refugees from Ukraine into their own homes will also be able to submit applications for reimbursement of the costs of their stay. – That is PLN 40 per day for each person who has been provided shelter. Regardless of when a family submits an application for reimbursement, it will be granted from the moment it took refugees from Ukraine under its roof. We will pay the funds retroactively, not “in advance” – he emphasized.
