The incident occurred at a fuel station in Lubań. The Renault driver, who struck a gas dispenser while reversing, tried to flee the scene. Employees informed the station owner, who was nearby. He pursued the collision perpetrator and stopped him by blocking his way, then notified the police.

– The police officers who arrived at the scene established that the 54-year-old driver of a Renault Laguna struck the LPG dispenser while attempting to pull up to it and then drove away. Fortunately, there was no gas leak – reports asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubań.

After making sure that no one was injured, the officers checked the fleeing driver's sobriety. The spokesperson said:

It turned out that the 52-year-old resident of Lubań municipality suspected in the case had more than 3 per mille of alcohol in his breath. In addition, a check of police databases revealed that the man was subject to a lifetime driving ban.

The man was arrested. He faces up to five years in prison. The Renault was towed to a police impound lot.
