Residents of Dolne Młyny Street (on the section from Mostowa Street to Góralska Street) asked for some of the trees that blocked access to daylight to be felled. During the autumn rains and winds, the streets were covered with broken branches and leaves. Not all the trees were felled.
“Only twenty-two trees on Dolne Młyny Street were felled at the request of the street’s residents,” informs Majka Nowak, spokesperson for the Starostwo Powiatowe. “The request was justified by the fact that the trees blocked a great deal of light, which did not reach the homes. In addition, because of falling leaves in autumn and branches broken by the wind, the street required more frequent cleaning.”
The residents asked for the row of trees to be thinned, not for all of them to be felled. In accordance with the regulations, permission to fell the trees was issued by the City Office, which designated the specific trees to be removed. The street will retain its character, while the tree felling will improve its appearance and allow sunlight to reach the tenement houses on Dolne Młyny Street.
