On this day, the Bolesławiec community honored the memory of the heroes of the anti-communist underground. Residents of Bolesławiec gathered in front of the symbol of Fighting Poland, which is located on the city’s defensive walls. The ceremony was attended by soldiers of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, representatives of local governments, associations and institutions, as well as scouts.
The date in March refers to the tragic events of 1 March 1951. At that time, members of the 4th Main Board of the Freedom and Independence Association were murdered in Mokotów Prison in Warsaw by shots to the back of the head. They were the leaders of the last nationwide organization continuing the tradition of the Home Army from 1945 onward.
