– Officers always carefully verify incoming information and take action appropriate to the situation. These activities are both preventive and operational in nature, with the aim of identifying the person or persons responsible for submitting the report – emphasizes asp. szt. Łukasz Dutkowiak from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

He adds:

Under the applicable regulations, conduct of this type meets the criteria of an offense legally defined as unlawfully raising an alarm, and a person may be – in the least severe case – fined 500 zlotys.

But that is not the most important thing. The problem is that, due to the unnecessary deployment of emergency services somewhere, someone who REALLY needs help may receive it too late.

What punishment does the perpetrator of a false bomb alarm face?

The uniformed services: – Such a report triggers an immediate response and the involvement of many services, including the Police, municipal or communal guards, as well as the fire service and emergency medical services. It also often causes disruptions to public transport.

The matter is serious, and therefore the consequences are serious too: such a “joker” faces a sentence of between six months and as many as eight years in prison. The spokesperson adds:

Let us be responsible for ourselves and others; under no circumstances should we report threats that do not exist!

Let us recall. A situation of this type recently occurred in Bolesławiec, more precisely on Monday, 17 January. The Janusz Korczak II General Secondary School received information that someone had planted an explosive device there. Emergency services were called to the scene. No explosive device was found.
