In mid-January, the website wyborcza.pl returned to the scandalous case:

It all began at the infectious diseases hospital in Bolesławiec. A 50-year-old woman infected with coronavirus was admitted there. The system listed the patient as someone who had received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. She was supposedly given them on July 14 and August 4, 2021, at a vaccination center operated by the clinic on Dolne Młyny Street in Bolesławiec.

Just before the woman was connected to a ventilator, however, she admitted that she had not been vaccinated. The information reached the media. It was quickly established which clinic had supposedly vaccinated the patient. Clinic director Krzysztof Pieszko told Wyborcza back in November:

I conducted an internal investigation and spoke with the nurse and the patient’s family; everyone assured me that there had been no irregularities.

The Bolesławiec prosecutor’s office confirmed, however, that the 50-year-old listed as vaccinated had in fact not received the vaccine. What is more, there were more similar cases at the same facility. Prosecutor Tomasz Czułowski, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, admitted in a conversation with Wyborcza that this was not a mass operation; it involved several people.

No one has yet been charged. Last week, the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office did not provide detailed information on the matter. We were told only that investigators were carrying out numerous activities in the case.

Let us recall. In November last year, we reported:

A truly scandalous and frightening situation recently occurred at the county hospital. A woman suffering from COVID-19, who was listed in the system as vaccinated, admitted to medical staff that she was in fact not vaccinated. Someone had falsified her medical records.

As istotne.pl was told at the time by Kamil Barczyk, head of the Healthcare Team in Bolesławiec, there were several such patients in the autumn of the previous year. Although only the woman mentioned above openly admitted to the fraud, based on the course of the illness, hospital staff could see that some patients were vaccinated only on paper.

According to the director, this behavior was “highly irresponsible,” especially since hospital staff were working extremely hard in the fight against the pandemic.

Such fraud is punishable by six months to as many as eight years in prison. We will return to the subject.
