A reader wrote to us via WhatsApp:

We live in Parkoszów in Bolesławiec municipality and travel to work along a road whose technical condition leaves much to be desired. [Chodzi odcinek od A18 przez Parkoszów do Trzebienia – przyp. istotne.pl].

And he noted:

It is not normal to navigate an “obstacle course” of potholes, cavities and subsidence on the way to work or home. The poor technical condition of the road creates a traffic hazard. Let me remind you that the road is narrow and has only one lane; near the former Falklandy centre, a bus cannot get through because the branches are low, and when passing vehicles coming from the opposite direction, one has to pull onto the shoulder. Residents have contacted the relevant authorities several times, but nothing helps; all they do is come by from time to time and shovel asphalt into the holes, which crumbles after a month.

And asks:

When will the road manager fill the potholes? When will someone responsible for accepting the road repairs face consequences for throwing money down the drain? When will it finally be possible to drive safely? When will they remove the self-seeded trees and branches and start mowing the grass a little more widely along the shoulders and bends to improve safety while driving?

The head of the District Roads Authority Paweł Bednarski:

In response to the reader’s question, I inform you that in 2021 Bolesławiec County selected a contractor to build an access road to the campsite in Trzebień Mały and Pstrąż. The residents of Trzebień and Parkoszów will also benefit from this project, as they will receive a new, wide road meeting the parameters of a class G road, which will replace the district road No. 2288D mentioned by the reader, running between Trzebień and Parkoszów. The scope of work also includes reconstructing the surface of road No. 2288D at the approaches to the newly designed roundabout.

Taking the reader’s comments into account, the District Roads Authority will immediately carry out the necessary partial repairs to the road surface. At the same time, I would point out that during the autumn and winter period it is often difficult to maintain the required technical conditions when carrying out partial repairs. However, due to road-user safety, these works are necessary and cannot be postponed while waiting for better weather conditions.

And adds:

With regard to the comments about mowing, I inform you that grass cutting is limited to the width of the road strip, which is approximately 6.5–7 m, and cannot be carried out on land adjoining the road that is not owned by Bolesławiec County.
