It is already expensive, and it will become even more expensive. Next year, inflation will be higher than it is now, the National Bank of Poland forecasts. Energy, gas and heating fuel will become more expensive, followed by almost all services and products. Excise duty on alcohol will also increase.
In fact, it is difficult to calculate what will not become more expensive in the new year.
The President of the National Bank of Poland, Business Insider reported on the rise in prices and the NBP’s inflation forecasts for next year in an interview with the service, Adam Glapiński:
The URE President’s decision concerning electricity and gas tariffs was made following a record increase in electricity, gas and CO2 emission allowance prices on the European and domestic markets. Household electricity and gas bills will increase from 2022 by an average of approximately 24% and 54%, respectively. The increase in these prices will be lower only in the first quarter of 2022 due to the anti-inflation shield. Throughout 2022, heating fuel prices will also be significantly higher, as a result of rising coal prices on global markets, as will district heating prices, due to rising CO2 emission allowance prices, and food prices.
These factors mean that average annual CPI inflation (consumer price index – the consumer price index – ed.) will reach 7.6% in 2022, more than the 5.1% forecast for 2021.
