Video surveillance is a key element of public safety today. It enables many places to be observed simultaneously, regardless of weather conditions or the time of day. Surveillance recordings may serve as evidence helping uniformed services identify perpetrators. Recordings may also constitute evidence, for example in court proceedings.
It is worth emphasizing that as the number of cameras grows, so does the number of media reports illustrated with surveillance footage, which ultimately helps apprehend criminals. This year, for the needs of the Police, the Bolesławiec Municipal Guard secured 127 recordings. In misdemeanor proceedings, the Municipal Guard secured approximately 500 video-surveillance recordings from across the city.
