Participants represented various age categories: toddler (children up to 7 years old), category I (children aged 8–12), category II (children aged 13–15), open (young people and adults over 16) and Nordic Walking (with no age division).
The races were held over various distances: 250 m, 500 m, 1 km and the main 4,321 m race (Bobrowa Running Trail). The event was opened by the Mayor of Bolesławiec, Piotr Roman. The participants were accompanied by a special guest – Santa Claus, who surprised everyone with his presence.
The St Nicholas Day Run Between the Bridges was recreational and social in nature. After the “competition,” every participant was offered a hot drink (tea or coffee) and a hot meal consisting of sausages grilled over a campfire. For taking part in the St Nicholas Day run, each participant received a commemorative medal, a pin, a certificate of participation and a surprise.
The event aimed to popularise and promote running as the simplest form of physical activity, integrate sports communities and promote the city of Bolesławiec, because running is enjoyable, healthy and easily accessible.
Heartfelt thanks go to all the sponsors and co-organisers for their help in conducting the race. We already invite you to the next edition of the run between the bridges in Bolesławiec.
