– After the report was filed, officers from the Misdemeanours Unit took up the case. During the explanatory proceedings, the police identified and, several days ago in Lwówek Śląski, arrested a 25-year-old man suspected of theft – he explains to lwowecki.info Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
The man pleaded guilty. The spokesperson adds:
The 25-year-old was unable to logically explain why he had committed the act.
Theft is usually punishable by three months to five years in prison, but in this case the value of the losses did not exceed PLN 500, so the man will face charges not for a crime, but for a misdemeanour. The case will be decided by a court.
Let us recall. The monument to Saint John Paul II in Lwówek Śląski made headlines at the beginning of November, when – as reported by the lwowecki.info portal – the eyes on the pope’s head were painted over at the monument in front of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, tears were added, and an inverted cross was painted on the mitre. The crozier that the pope had held in his hands was also stolen.
The church dean learned about the matter from the portal’s journalists.
In our pages, we added:
It is possible that the matter is connected with reports of the Vatican corporation covering up paedophilia. It is known that the Polish pope repeatedly promoted bishops who had been accused of paedophilia or abusing seminarians. Details of these events can be found in the book entitled Gomora, written by theologian and former Jesuit Stanisław Obirek and lawyer Artur Nowak, who represents victims of clerical paedophiles.
