A report on the religiosity of Polish women and men and on religious practices has been published. The study and report were prepared by the Public Opinion Research Center.
Over the past thirty years, the level of religious faith in Poland has declined—from 94% in 1992 to 87.4% in 2021. The number of people participating in religious practices has also fallen—from 69.5% in 1992 to 42.9% in 2021.
The number of non-practicing people is growing fastest among those aged 18–24. Thirty years ago, 69 percent of young people attended church; now the figure is 23 percent.
The CBOS study noted that “the process of losing faith proceeds relatively fastest among people with higher education, more slowly among those with secondary education, and slowest among those with primary or vocational education.”
The data published in the CBOS report correspond with our data concerning young people from Bolesławiec. In an article published less than two months ago, we wrote that nearly 45% of students from Bolesławiec secondary schools no longer attend religious education.
