Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:
A police patrol wanted to stop a driver and inspect his vehicle on one of Bolesławiec’s streets, but the driver ignored the visual and audio signals, began fleeing from the officers, made dangerous maneuvers and forced other drivers to react abruptly, thereby creating a danger for road users.
Legnica officers serving in Bolesławiec arrested the driver after a chase. It turned out that the 31-year-old resident of Bolesławiec municipality was fleeing because his driving licence had been taken away a year earlier for driving under the influence of drugs. What is more, that day he was once again driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.
“When the driver saw that he had no room left to maneuver, he deliberately caused a collision with the police car, hoping that this would distract the officers and allow him to escape on foot,” reports Senior Warrant Officer Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters.
She adds:
The evidence collected by officers of the Bolesławiec police unit left no doubt that the suspect created a direct risk of a disaster in land traffic.
At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered the 31-year-old’s temporary detention for three months. The extremely irresponsible man faces a sentence of six months to eight years in prison.
