On Tuesday, November 9, Milicz police officers detained a 67-year-old resident of one of the nearby villages who is suspected of stealing money from the so-called mass collection plate. Deputy Inspector Wojciech Jabłoński from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław:

The activities conducted by officers in this case revealed that the man, who served as a church caretaker in one of the parishes in Milicz County and was responsible for collecting donations, had been stealing money offered by the faithful during services held at the church on Saturdays and Sundays for several months.

He added:

In this way, from July of this year until the time of his detention, the man took more than PLN 15,000 from the collection plate in total. The suspect had already spent the cash on his own expenses.

The church caretaker was charged with as many as 16 counts in total. He faces up to five years in prison.
