– The duty officer at the Jawor police station received a report of a collision in Targoszyn. Officers who went to the scene found a damaged Yamaha motorcycle lying on the ground beside a utility pole – reports junior warrant officer Przemysław Ratajczyk of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

He adds: – A 38-year-old resident of Jawor County was also near the motorcycle. He admitted to the officers that he had suddenly lost control of the motorcycle because he had failed to adjust his speed to the prevailing road conditions, as a result of which he hit a concrete electricity pole standing beside the road.

During their conversation with the reckless rider, the officers detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from him. It turned out that the motorcycle rider, carried away by his boldness, was drunk; he had nearly 1.5 parts per thousand of alcohol in his system. To make matters worse, he did not have a category A driving licence.

The spokesperson says: – As if that were not enough, the 38-year-old also committed another offence. He took the motorcycle from the property where it had been parked, without the owner’s knowledge or consent. He took advantage of knowing the victim and of the fact that the owner had left the keys in the motorcycle’s ignition.

The 38-year-old now faces up to five years in prison.
