On 6 November, during a routine inspection at the town market in Kudowa-Zdrój, Customs and Tax Service officers, together with Border Guard officers from Kłodzko, discovered 766 items of clothing, handbags and shoes. “The goods offered by two Bulgarian citizens bore markings deceptively similar to the trademarks of well-known companies,” explains Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS.

She adds:

A representative acting on behalf of the manufacturers of the affected companies examined the handbags, T-shirts, sweatshirts, trousers, caps, shoes and underwear. He concluded that they were counterfeit.

The officers secured goods with a market value of PLN 305,000. Preparatory proceedings have been initiated and will be conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kłodzko. KAS:

Trading in items bearing counterfeit trademarks is punishable by up to two years in prison.
