In Bolesławiec, a “Pink Box” operates at I Liceum Ogólnokształcące, but the members of Towarzystwo Psychopedagogiczne decided that it was worth discussing women’s monthly bleeding professionally and systematically in every school in Bolesławiec. That is why the following project was created.

The project aims to:

  • Increase awareness of personal hygiene
  • Expand knowledge of changes occurring in the body
  • Learn about the changes that occur in women during adolescence

The workshop programme focuses primarily on the reproductive system, observing one’s own body and proper hygiene during menstruation. Key topics for the project include changes occurring during adolescence and the ability to cope with stress.

The project also responds to the need to supplement young people’s knowledge by informing them that, in problematic situations, they can turn to the school hygienist or nurse for help obtaining hygiene products.

Educational institutions from Bolesławiec County are invited to join the initiative.

Let us recall, citing Fundacją Różowa Skrzyneczka, which fights menstrual exclusion and taboo.

  • Nearly 500,000 people in Poland cannot afford to buy sanitary pads or tampons.
  • 21% of female students are forced to leave school lessons because they do not have a sanitary pad, while 10% do not leave home at all for this reason.
  • 42% of families do not discuss menstruation at home, and 43% of teenage girls avoid discussing periods with their fathers.
