The October session of the Bolesławiec City Council is under way, and two draft resolutions concerning increases in local charges were submitted for it:

  • “on determining the tax rates on real estate”;
  • “on determining the tax rates on means of transport.”

The deputy head of the Finance and Budget Department at Bolesławiec City Hall Magdalena Janik explained to the councillors that in both cases the charges would increase by only 3.6 percent. Mayor Piotr Roman noted that the local government’s current situation required difficult decisions. He also said that the changes mentioned were necessary if Bolesławiec was to focus on development:

I am not happy about inflation. To quote Professor Gwiazdowski, high inflation always begins with low inflation.

The council adopted the resolution “on determining the tax rates on real estate” with 12 votes in favour. All Law and Justice councillors and three councillors from Impuls Miasta voted against it (Maciej Małkowski did not take part in the vote). Dariusz Filistyński abstained.

The second resolution also passed with 12 votes in favour. This time, all Law and Justice and Impuls Miasta councillors voted against it. D. Filistyński abstained again.
