A serious road incident involving a cyclist occurred at the cycle crossing on Armii Krajowej Street in Lubin. The driver of a Skoda passenger car failed to yield to the 74-year-old man riding a bicycle, as a result of which the injured cyclist suffered serious head injuries. The cyclist was taken to hospital by an emergency medical team. The 29-year-old Skoda driver, a resident of Lubin, was sober at the time of the incident. Police officers from the Lubin police headquarters worked at the scene and will now investigate the causes and circumstances of the incident in detail.
The dangerous situation involving a vulnerable road user was recorded by city surveillance cameras. Once again, we ask everyone to exercise caution on the roads, especially near pedestrian crossings and cycle crossings.

The safety of pedestrians and cyclists is a priority for Lubin police officers because, as “vulnerable road users,” they are exposed to much more serious consequences than people driving cars when a road incident occurs. As a result of collisions, this group of road users often suffers injuries whose recovery can sometimes take many weeks or months. Unfortunately, accidents can also have tragic consequences, such as loss of life or disability.
The officers once again warn and remind everyone to follow safety rules on the roads. Unfortunately, drivers either forget the applicable regulations or simply fail to pay attention in places where particular caution is required, and this is when collisions occur.
Let us remember, especially now during the autumn season, that visibility is one of the basic conditions for safety. We therefore appeal to pedestrians and cyclists to wear vests, other reflective elements or a flashlight when travelling on the roads. Such conduct will certainly improve our safety. This city surveillance recording is intended as a warning.
