On Friday, 20 August, an exceptional session of the Bolesławiec City Council was held in the Forum Cinema hall. Due to its nature, in addition to the City Councillors, invited guests also took part, including the Lower Silesian Voivode – Jarosław Obremski, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship – Cezary Przybylski, Bolesławiec County Governor – Tomasz Gabrysiak, delegations from partner cities of the Urban Commune, and distinguished residents of the county.

On behalf of the President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, the Lower Silesian Voivode awarded 29 residents of Bolesławiec County the “Medal of the Centenary of Regaining Independence” for their service to Independent Poland.

An exceptional moment during the ceremonial session was the awarding of the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Bolesławiec to Janina Urszula Piestrak-Babijczuk for outstanding services to residents and for her professional, social and charitable activities. The title was presented by Mayor Piotr Roman and City Council Chairman Józef Pokładek. Bolesławiec County Governor Tomasz Gabrysiak expressed his thanks for her many years of activity for Bolesławiec County and for serving as Chairwoman of the County Council.

Following the adoption by the Bolesławiec City Council of resolutions concerning the conferral of the title “Merited for the City of Bolesławiec,” 12 people were honored.

During the final part of the session, employees of the District Hospital of the Healthcare Services Complex in Bolesławiec were presented with honorary badges from the Minister of Health, “For Merit in Healthcare Protection.” The ceremonial presentation of the distinctions was conducted by the Lower Silesian Voivode and the Bolesławiec County Governor.

After the session ended, all participants, accompanied by the Municipal Brass Band, walked to the Town Hall, where the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival was opened.

On Sunday, 22 August, at the conclusion of the 27th Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival, an extraordinary concert entitled “Keep Hope” was held as a tribute to the people fighting the coronavirus pandemic. It was an emotional spoken-and-musical performance dedicated to people who, often at the cost of their health or even their lives, saved the lives of others. The concert featured Beata Rybotycka, Anna Lasota, Kuba Badach, Janusz Radek, Jacek Wójcicki and Andrzej Poniedzielski, accompanied by a band led by Konrad Mastyła. Directed by: Marcin Kołaczkowski.
