On the website of the Polish Funeral Association, an appeal appeared addressed to all those who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID. The document reads:

The Polish Funeral Association addresses an Appeal to All people who have not yet BEEN VACCINATED against COVID-19 – DO IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

The global COVID-19 pandemic has affected us All, regardless of age, nationality or profession. It has forced radical changes in the way we function every day.

Summer arrived, and with it, just as last year, the number of infections and deaths fell. In the summer of 2020, we heard the authorities say that the pandemic was already over and there was nothing to fear. Reality proved brutal. Autumn and winter came, and with them the number of cases returned with redoubled force, along with, worst of all, the number of deaths.

The head of the PFA, Krzysztof Wolicki, notes in the appeal:

Statistically, around 1% of Polish citizens are born and die each year, giving us approximately 1,041 deaths per day. From the beginning of October 2020, when the pandemic began to gain strength again, until the end of May 2021, when the pandemic decided to “bid us farewell,” 128,629 Polish citizens died, giving an average of 1,577 deaths per day, i.e. an increase of over 50 percent.

I am convinced that if the vaccine had been available in the autumn of 2020, people would have stood in kilometre-long queues to get vaccinated.

And he emphasizes:

It is summer 2021 and only irresponsible people believe that the pandemic has already ended. I must THEM disappoint: NO, IT HAS NOT ENDED.

The only question is: when and with what force will it return?

And finally, he adds:

At this moment, I address these words to unvaccinated people: think about your loved ones, whom you love and who certainly LOVE YOU: why are you doing this to them, why do you not want to grow old with them, why do you not want to host them at your name-day or birthday celebrations? Why should they bring flowers on those days so important to YOU to YOUR GRAVES?

And he unequivocally emphasizes:

Get vaccinated as soon as possible – WE HAVE WORK TO DO!
