On Monday, July 12, inspectors from the Road Transport Inspection stopped two trucks belonging to Czech carriers on national road No. 3 in Jelenia Góra. The inspection reported:

A Polish man was behind the wheel of the first vehicle. He was alone in the cab and used another driver’s card in the tachograph to simulate driving as part of a crew. In addition, the trailer failed its technical-condition inspection. One of the tyres was worn down to the steel belt.

In the second truck inspected, the Czech driver alternately used two different cards issued in the same name. (It was established that the second card belonged to the inspected driver’s father, who had the same first name).

The Czech driver recorded journeys to the border with Poland on his father’s account. He then logged his own card into the tachograph.

But that was not all. The device itself recording the driver’s activities did not have a valid periodic inspection. In addition, since 2019 the driver had not had the required “code 95” entry in his driving licence for the international transport of goods. This entry certifies that the driver has valid medical and psychological examinations and has completed a course in the transport of goods.

The result? Inspectors confiscated the cards that the Polish and Czech drivers had used unlawfully. They will be sent to the institutions responsible for issuing them. Both drivers were fined.

The carriers and the people responsible for managing transport in the companies also face financial consequences. The Road Transport Inspection said: “Administrative proceedings will be initiated against them.”
