The incident occurred in March this year in the area of the primary school in Rząsiny. An incident involving a truck carrying logs took place there. While driving near the school, the driver caught the load on a low-hanging telecommunications cable.
The result? One of the logs fell directly onto the school entrance. – The entire situation, recorded by surveillance cameras, looked extremely dangerous – reports junior officer Olga Łukaszewicz from the Lwówek police. – Only thanks to a fortunate coincidence were there no people in front of the building at that moment. Otherwise, a serious accident could have occurred.
The driver was not even aware that such an incident had occurred.
Officers from Gryfów Śląski took up the case. Junior officer O. Łukaszewicz: – By analysing the surveillance footage, the officers quickly established the driver's identity. The man was fined for transporting an unsecured load.
The police appeal to all drivers, particularly truck drivers, to properly secure transported loads and exercise particular caution, especially in the vicinity of schools and other places with increased pedestrian traffic.
The footage shows an incident that, for better or worse, resembles a scene from the cult horror film series “Final Destination”. Fortunately, the ending was different in this case.
