The incident occurred on Monday, June 21. Volunteer firefighters from Różyniec:
4:41 a.m. – dispatch to an accident on the A4, kilometer 55, toward Zgorzelec.
They added:
Upon arriving at the scene, it turned out that a passenger car had hit the back of a truck and stopped against the crash barriers separating the lanes of the motorway.
The operation involved firefighters from JRG Bolesławiec (2 units), OSP Różyniec and OSP Krzyżowa.

The driver of the Ford passenger car, a 25-year-old man from Silesia, hit the trailer of a stationary DAF truck. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The driver responsible for the collision was completely drunk (2 per mille blood alcohol). The man was arrested; he faces up to two years in prison.
