According to Costa Caffe's official website, Arabica coffee is the most popular and most commonly found type of coffee, accounting for more than three-quarters of the world's bean production.
It originates from Ethiopia and the mountainous regions of Yemen, although it is now grown primarily in Central and South American countries, Africa and Asia. To produce high-quality fruit, Arabica shrubs must be grown in mountainous areas at elevations of 800–2,200 metres above sea level, characterised by frequent rainfall, fertile—often volcanic—soil and adequate sunlight. Caffea arabica beans are distinctly elongated and flat, with an S-shaped seam running through the middle. Coffee brewed from Arabica beans is mild and aromatic. A slight acidity may be noticeable, as well as chocolate or spicy notes. This type of bean is also characterised by a lower caffeine content, ranging from 0.9% to 1.7%.
