At Quick Bolesławiec at 49 Tysiąclecia Avenue, on the site of the former Tesco, the first stores have opened. ALDI and Action are already operating in the complex. There is also a pharmacy. In addition, the facility is planned to include, among others, ShockPrice and Xtreme Fitness. A Petroprix petrol station is also expected to be built there. The entire park has approximately 5,000 sq m of retail space.

Was this the dream of Bolesławiec residents?

Residents had been waiting a long time for ALDI and Action to open. On the internet, local forums and in comments, questions repeatedly appeared about when these chains—and especially Action—would finally arrive in Bolesławiec. It can therefore be said that one of the shopping dreams of some Bolesławiec residents has come true.

And the first days of the new stores’ operation show that interest is considerable. The car park at Quick fills up quickly, and many residents headed to both stores. In the first days, it was difficult to speak of leisurely shopping—the new outlets attracted crowds of customers who wanted to see the range and check out brands that were new to the city.

Action is attracting particularly strong interest. In one local poll concerning Quick, this store received the most votes as the most interesting element of the new complex.

But that is not the end

Residents will not have to wait long for another major opening. BIG Bolesławiec (Vendo Park Bolesławiec) is being built on Staroszkolna Street. The facility is scheduled to open at the end of this year. The investment also includes a new road layout, including roundabouts connecting the complex with DK94.

It can therefore be expected that this opening will also attract many residents. New stores, new brands and a large number of parking spaces will certainly be an additional reason for some Bolesławiec residents to visit this part of the city.

Are there already enough retail parks?

Bolesławiec already has several larger retail facilities, and more are under construction. In addition to Quick and the emerging BIG Bolesławiec retail park, OTO Park Bolesławiec, Park Handlowy Stara Mleczarnia and the retail park on Wesoła Street are also operating.

The question, then, is whether Bolesławiec needs even more retail parks, or whether the existing and announced range is already enough for residents.

On the one hand, more stores mean greater choice and competition. On the other, each new facility also means more car traffic and an increasing amount of space allocated to retail.

Watch the prices

It is also worth remembering one more thing. The mere fact that a store is located in a retail park does not automatically mean that all its products are cheaper there than elsewhere. Attractive prices can indeed be found during promotions, but for the rest of the range, differences compared with other stores may be small or nonexistent.

That is why it is still worth comparing prices when shopping, rather than being guided solely by the word “promotion”.

How do you assess the current retail offering in Bolesławiec? Are there already enough retail parks, or should more be built in the city?
