The end of last week was particularly difficult for drivers. The roads were covered with a thick layer of snow. On Monday, 11 January, the county authorities met with the head of the County Roads Authority, Roman Palczewski, and Bernard Ostański, the owner of P.H.U. “Widok”, a company responsible for maintaining provincial and county roads.

County head Cezary Przybylski and deputy county head Stanisław Chwojnicki ordered road workers to clear the snow with exceptional care. During the meeting, it was decided that snowploughs clearing the streets would leave more space for cars and remove snow more thoroughly along the road edges. “We have established priorities,” says the deputy county head. “We said what we expect from the road workers, and we intend to enforce it. Road workers are on duty around the clock. We cannot allow slush to form on the roads.”

The results are already visible. Roads that have been treated with brine are almost black. “We are coping well with the snow, and this is not just our assessment,” Stanisław Chwojnicki emphasizes.

The county authorities are responsible for maintaining 395 km of roads, including 95 kilometres of provincial roads. “We achieve such good results thanks to the division of work,” the deputy county head points out. “We have eight snowplough-and-salt-spreader units at our disposal. Two of them clear provincial roads, another two county roads in Bolesławiec, two roads in Warta Bolesławiecka and the Bolesławiec Rural Municipality, and the remaining two routes in Osiecznica and Nowogrodziec,” he adds.
