– It is a very old object from before World War I. At present, we have two suspicions regarding the type of projectile. It is certainly a German projectile. It was used between 1870 and 1890. It is rarely encountered in our region. Perhaps they were highly effective, or perhaps they were rarely used. Twelve years ago, the same type of projectile was found by us in Cieplice – senior warrant officer Radosław Mazur from the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol said in an interview with eluban.pl .Radosław Mazur from the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol.

He added:

We will try to save the find so that it can be transferred to a museum. However, the projectile contains explosive material together with a detonator. It is not known how it will behave when an attempt is made to burn it out with a special charge.

Let us recall. We reported on the matter on May 10. Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment:

A very old artillery projectile found during the Clean Up the World campaign near Świeradów.

The officers:

It should be understood that explosives used in military technology are, in practice, completely resistant to weather conditions and retain their explosive properties regardless of their production date.

What should you do if you find unexploded ordnance or a misfire?

  1. Do not touch such objects.
  2. Secure the area against access by bystanders (e.g. children) and mark the place where the object was found.
  3. Immediately report it by calling the emergency number 112.
