The young vocalists performed on Wednesday, December 30, at the Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury. During the concert, the audience heard 15 songs. Participants in the vocal studio classes presented songs from the repertoires of, among others, Urszula (“Dmuchawce, latawce, wiatr”), Danuta Rinn (“Gdzie ci mężczyźni”), Tadeusz Woźniak (“Zegarmistrz światła”) and Maryla Rodowicz (“Do łezki łezka”).
“The Pre-New Year’s Eve Concert is our tradition,” says Marek Łętowski, director of the MDK. “We organize it at this time because, as is well known, the cultural program between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is not particularly extensive.”
On December 28, 2009, the MDK hosted the multimedia show “See The Sound” by Marek Straszak. Two days later came the concert by participants in the vocal studio classes. “We strive to ensure that something takes place at our institution every day during the period between Christmas and New Year’s Eve,” Łętowski emphasizes.
That evening, some of the performers sang in public for the first time. “There are two vocal studios operating at the MDK. Both are working at full capacity. We are not short of interested participants,” assures the institution’s director. “These kids sing because they want to sing. Our goal is to give them the opportunity to perform on stage,” he adds.
The youngest participant in the concert was Marlena Sarkowicz, who performed the song “Kaczka dziwaczka,” from the film “Akademia Pana Kleksa”. The next performance by the MDK students will take place in February.
