Pediatric preventive care is an entirely new service at the hospital in Bolesławiec.
Aleksandra Kopczyńska – Head of the Pediatric Department of ZOZ in Bolesławiec:
Symptoms that should concern parents include recurring headaches in a child, palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath and reduced exercise tolerance. We will diagnose patients with chronic abdominal pain or suspected food allergies. Children who are overweight or obese certainly qualify for testing. Lack of physical activity and weight gain can contribute to arterial hypertension or diabetes even in teenagers.
Depending on the problem, the child will undergo diagnostic tests for anemia, vitamin D deficiency, allergies, and diseases of the urinary, respiratory or digestive systems. If necessary, the child will be seen by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, including a pediatric cardiologist or neurologist. The testing cycle lasts at least one day and, if necessary, several days. During this time, the child and their caregiver stay in the department. Admission requires a negative COVID-19 test result for both the child and the caregiver. After registering, the hospital will issue a referral for free PCR swab tests, which can be performed on site.
