Sport is health—every artilleryman in the regiment knows that by now. It not only positively affects physical fitness but also shapes character. This year’s Sports Day celebrations were organized with the participation of representatives of the stationed US Army subunit and began with morning physical exercises led by the reconnaissance pennants of the subunits.

The first competition in which the regiment’s command and staff soldiers had to compete was a shooting contest at the garrison shooting range. In the final classification, the individual winner was Maj. Jacek Janik, who demonstrated a sharp eye and very good grouping of shots on the target.

Later during Sports Day, “Strongman” competitions were organized on the sports field for crews, guns and launchers. Four-person teams made up of soldiers serving as crew members in each firing subunit were eligible to participate. The winning crews were, in order, soldiers from the 1st Rocket Artillery Battery of the 3rd dar, the 2nd Rocket Artillery Battery of the 3rd dar and the 3rd Rocket Artillery Battery of the 3rd dar.

Sports Day concluded with the 23rd Artillery Regiment Championship in overcoming the OSF, in which two-person teams from each subunit were eligible to participate. The competition was fierce until the very end, and the competitors themselves pushed their physical abilities to the limit. In the individual classification, the winners were: 1st place – Senior Private Mateusz Dubieniecki from the logistics battalion; 2nd place – Senior Private Radosław Pawlusiński from the logistics company of the 3rd dar; 3rd place – Private Filip Zagórski from the 1st Rocket Artillery Battery of the 3rd dar. In the team classification: the logistics battalion, the 3rd Rocket Artillery Battery of the 3rd dar and the 1st Rocket Artillery Battery of the 3rd dar.

“All the competitions held generated a great deal of emotion and unleashed a sporting spirit of struggle and competition. Today’s event is intended to highlight the role and potential of sport. Sport is not only physical exercise, but above all a lesson in patience. It is also an opportunity to promote physical activity among soldiers, especially during the pandemic,” says Maj. Jakub Wołyński, Head of the Physical Education and Sports Section.
