On Monday, 21 December, the Muzeum Ceramiki in Bolesławiec announced the results of the third edition of the competition for the mayor’s award for the best master’s or doctoral theses on the history and contemporary life of our city, defended during the 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 academic years at all public and non-public universities in Poland.
Five entries were submitted. The competition committee (comprising: Grzegorz Strauchold, Tomasz Strzelecki, Waldemar Tyc, Jerzy Zieliński and Jacek Dudyński) did not award first prize. Second place went to Katarzyna Gil for “Analysis of the Acoustic Climate of the City of Bolesławiec,” written under the supervision of Józef Kuropka, PhD Eng. (Wrocław University of Technology, Faculty of Environmental Engineering). The winner received PLN 2,000.
The third prize was awarded to Krzysztof Kostka for the paper “War Cemeteries of the Soviet Army in Bolesławiec County” (University of Zielona Góra, Faculty of Humanities). The author received PLN 1,000.
The jurors did not award the additional prize of having the work published at the municipality’s expense.
