Nowogrodziec Municipality:

As part of the investment involving the construction of a sanitary sewer system and the restoration of the surfaces of county roads administered by Bolesławiec County, the Municipality and Town of Nowogrodziec allocated nearly PLN 15 million.

Cooperation between the local governments has significantly improved the condition of the county roads. For safety reasons, the county road in Gościszów requires renovation. We will support the councillors and the Bolesławiec County Board in carrying out the local government’s own tasks and obtaining external funding for the investment.

Let us recall. On March 16, we reported that a Reader wrote to the editorial office by email:

The problem with the road section from Gościszów, from the railway viaduct to Niwnice, is unfortunately being downplayed. It is good that the County Road Authority responded fairly quickly [Czytelnik najpierw interweniował u zarządcy drogi – przyp. istotne.pl], but unfortunately its response was rather laconic.

According to information from the County Road Authority, no major resurfacing is currently planned, only repairs to sections of this road. The most interesting statement is that it is possible to travel along this road safely at 40 km/h. Well, I do not know what the word “safely” is supposed to mean here, because a snail’s pace has nothing to do with safe driving. […]

It is impossible to drive along this road at more than 30–35 km/h. Of course, you can drive faster, but suspension repairs are guaranteed—and will the County Board finance such repairs?

And added:

Reliable information is missing about when the renovation is scheduled. If not this year, then for which years? Why can’t the road be renovated in the near future?

And emphasized:

The condition of the road is disastrous. The road has been patched many times, and repairing it in this way will no longer help. The badly damaged verges are a major problem.

It is worth publicizing the problem and also drawing the attention of the authorities of the Municipality of Nowogrodziec to it. The road is indeed a county road, but Gościszów is one of the largest villages within the Municipality, and surely both the residents of Gościszów and other road users deserve a decent, fully safe road...?

At present, the road surface resembles the surface of the moon in places, or roads in Ukraine, even though we are in the EU. It is embarrassing...

Will the County Road Authority actually address the problem? Do the Municipal Council and the Mayor of Nowogrodziec recognize the problem?

We asked both the County Road Authority and the Nowogrodziec local government for comment on the matter.
