In December, we asked both hospitals in Bolesławiec how much they pay the chaplains they employ. The county hospital provided an answer; the provincial hospital refused.
The Hospital for the Nervously and Mentally Ill argues that if only one person is employed in a given position at a particular institution (and that appears to be the case at this hospital), then “disclosing the information in question would require interference in that person’s legally protected sphere of privacy.”
We disagree with the hospital management’s opinion. We believe that salaries in public institutions (meaning the remuneration for a given position, not exactly how much a particular person earns) should be publicly available.
We decided to take the matter to court. In January, we filed a complaint through the hospital with the Provincial Administrative Court in Wrocław. We are supported by Sieć Obywatelska Watchdog Polska, which deals with the right of access to public information and its transparency. You can support this organization by donating 1% of your tax, which we encourage you to do.
