What project will be carried out?

The project will involve constructing, on the basis of a building design, an indoor swimming pool connected to the school building in Gromadka by a so-called link building. There will also be a separate entrance for people wishing to use the pool. It will be a single-storey building consisting of the following zones:

  • an entrance zone with a vestibule, cash desks and a changing-room area (men’s and women’s changing rooms, two washrooms and two rooms with showers);
  • the pool hall zone.

The pool hall will include a pool measuring 8.5 m × 16.67 m, with depths ranging from 0.90 m to 1.35 m. The building’s usable floor area will be 1,507.4 m2; the building’s volume will be 5,645 m3; and the pool hall will be 6.4 m high.

What are the project’s target groups, and who will benefit from it?

The target groups are primarily children, school pupils, preschool children, adults, older people and young people. In the mornings, activities are planned for primary-school and preschool children. For preschoolers, these will be additional activities. In the afternoons and at weekends, the facility will be made available to residents of Gromadka Municipality as well as anyone interested from the surrounding area, including tourists. Tourists visit our municipality in large numbers and use agritourism facilities, natural attractions (the Natura 2000 Bory Dolnośląskie area), forest areas and cycling routes, often as part of so-called weekend tourism.

What will be done as part of the project? What will its effects be?

As part of the project, a very practical small, school-based swimming pool will be built. It will be adapted to the needs of schoolchildren for learning to swim and to help the youngest children become familiar with the water. Our aim is to improve society’s swimming skills in the future and minimise all negative consequences of not knowing how to behave in water.

The pool hall will include a pool equipped with four swimming lanes, ladders and showers. The hall will also contain a sauna area (a dry sauna and an infrared sauna), two hot tubs, a gym area, two exercise rooms and an equipment storage room.

The “Delfinek” indoor swimming pool will serve not only children, but also adults, families with children and older people. The facility will also be used for relaxation and, to some extent, rehabilitation; owing to its dimensions and depth, it will be a safe facility.

Can people with disabilities use the facility?

The facility has been adapted for use by people with disabilities and has no architectural barriers. The stairs in the link building between the school and the pool will be negotiated using a stair climber, which the school already has. Access to the pool for a person with a disability will be provided by a sling lift. All rooms in the facility have been designed to be accessible to people with disabilities.

The area around the pool building will be developed with parking areas and access routes, including parking spaces and spaces for people with disabilities.
