– We are making the Your e-PIT service available to taxpayers for the third time, but this year it is part of the e-Tax Office, the online service of the Ministry of Finance and the National Revenue Administration. This is an extension of the idea behind Your e-PIT: convenient, secure and easily accessible services that make life easier for our clients – informs the Minister of Finance, Funds and Regional Policy Tadeusz Kościński.
– On February 1 this year, we launched the e-Tax Office, which is very popular. Nearly half a million taxpayers have already logged in. More than 3,200 different documents have been submitted. Thirty-five thousand people have used the option to view their fine, and 32,000 people have paid their taxes electronically – says the head of the National Revenue Administration Magdalena Rzeczkowska.
Your e-PIT is one of the most popular e-services of the Polish administration. Last year, it was used to file nearly half of the 18.3 million electronic PIT returns. – We expect to break this record in 2021. Thanks to Your e-PIT, taxpayers can settle their taxes at a convenient place and time, without having to visit a tax office – emphasizes Minister Kościński.
How does the National Revenue Administration help taxpayers?
– Taxpayers who use the Your e-PIT service can expect an easier annual tax settlement. PIT returns prepared by the National Revenue Administration will include the child tax credit and the PIT exemption for people under 26. Everyone who files a PIT electronically, including through the Your e-PIT service, will receive their tax refund within the shortened period of 45 days – says Deputy Minister Rzeczkowska.
The National Revenue Administration prepared taxpayers’ annual returns based on the data in its possession. The most frequently completed annual returns in the Your e-PIT service are PIT-37 and PIT-38.
People who do not conduct business activity may use returns prepared on PIT-28 and PIT-36 forms; however, returns made available through the service must be supplemented independently with information on income from business activity and special sections of agricultural production.
A statement on transferring 1% of tax to a public-benefit organization, PIT-OP, will also be available.
What deadlines should you remember?
Until April 30, 2021, taxpayers can verify and modify or approve their returns in the Your e-PIT service. Afterwards, the National Revenue Administration will automatically accept PIT-37 and PIT-38 returns prepared on the basis of the data in its possession. As a result, the PIT return will be filed on time even if the taxpayer takes no action. The 2020 PIT-28 return can be filed through the Your e-PIT service until March 1, 2021.
Attention! Unlike PIT-37 and PIT-38 returns, the annual PIT-28 and PIT-36 settlements will not be accepted automatically after April 30, 2021. Remember to check and complete this settlement, then approve it and download the Official Confirmation of Receipt (UPO).
How do you use the Your e-PIT service?
The service is available exclusively through the e-Tax Office at podatki.gov.pl. Logging in to the e-Tax Office (e-US) with a Trusted Profile (PZ), an e-ID, or through electronic banking enables access to the Your e-PIT service.
It will also be possible to log in to the service itself using tax data by providing:
- PESEL (or NIP and date of birth),
- the income amount from the 2019 return,
- the income amount from one of the payers’ information statements for 2020 (e.g. PIT-11 from an employer), and confirmation using the overpayment/tax-due amount from the 2019 return.
Taxpayers who received information from a pension or disability authority (PIT-40A) and did not file independently in 2019 should provide the overpayment/amount due from PIT-40A. (In the near future, logging in to the e-Tax Office and the Your e-PIT service via the mObywatel app is also planned).
A taxpayer using the service may complete the return prepared by the National Revenue Administration and include eligible deductions, such as donations, including those related to COVID-19, the rehabilitation allowance, the Internet allowance, the thermal modernization allowance, payments into an individual retirement security account (IKZE), or deductions for housing expenses. They may also declare that 1% of their tax be transferred to any public-benefit organization of their choice.
In the Your e-PIT service, taxpayers whose PIT settlement results in tax due will have their individual tax account number provided so they can conveniently make an online payment.
If a return showing tax due is accepted automatically, the tax office will send the taxpayer information about the amount due by May 31, 2021.
The National Revenue Administration adds:
Your e-PIT operates around the clock and can be used on any device connected to the internet. In addition to filing an annual PIT return through the Your e-PIT service, taxpayers can also use the e-Declarations system.
Taxpayers can find all information related to settling their 2020 PIT on podatki.gov.pl, in the dedicated tab: Your e-PIT.
