From November 27 to December 1, Bolesławiec police conducted the “Andrzejki” operation, aimed at improving road safety in the city and county. During this time, two accidents occurred, including one fatal accident.
Moreover, officers apprehended three drunk drivers and one driver who was subject to a court-ordered driving ban. Police issued 120 traffic fines (including 80 for speeding and 40 for failing to wear seat belts).
Police remind drivers that excessive speed is one of the most common causes of road accidents, while seat belts are the most effective way to ensure safety while driving. Half of the people killed in road accidents could have survived if they had been wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. Moreover, failing to wear a seat belt is an offense punishable by a PLN 100 fine and 2 penalty points.
