We reported on the matter on 18 November. A month ago, a draft of the new train timetable appeared on the PKP Bolesławiec website. “It turns out that this draft is no longer up to date. From December, PKP Intercity is discontinuing the direct Zgorzelec–Warsaw–Zgorzelec train,” a reader wrote in an email to the editorial office Reader.
“Work is underway on a new timetable. Until we have the final version of the timetable, we will not comment on these reports. We do not want to create unnecessary confusion,” Beata Czemerajda from PKP Intercity’s press team told us last week.
Our reader’s words were confirmed. On Tuesday, 24 November, we received an email from Czemerajda, who wrote: “In the new timetable [...] we decided not to operate a direct connection to Zgorzelec.” The reason? “Above all, low interest among passengers.”
Asked whether PKP IC would offer passengers another connection, the company’s press office employee replied: “We offer passengers a connection from Jelenia Góra to Przemyśl, which, with passengers from Zgorzelec in mind, will stop at Węgliniec.”
The new train timetable comes into effect on 13 December this year.
