During the operation codenamed “Car”, police officers focused on conducting intensified checks of vehicles travelling on the roads of our province at night. The checks concerned, among other things, the possession of items prohibited by law or originating from crimes. Road traffic, crime prevention and plainclothes officers took part in the operation.

Service dogs were also used during the operation. Officers moved to various locations throughout the night to check vehicles in motion as well as cars parked in parking lots. The large-scale operation also led to the detection of other types of crime and the apprehension of wanted persons.

This was the case in Wrocław County, where officers detained a wanted person during the night operation and also identified a driver who had decided to drive a car despite a court-imposed driving ban. During the operation, officers also recovered a stolen vehicle.

In Zgorzelec County, meanwhile, officers from the Nysa group determined, while checking one of the cars, based on its identification numbers, that a part installed in it came from another vehicle stolen in a neighbouring province. The car was secured, and the man travelling in it was taken into police custody.

Officers also seized 60 kilograms of cut tobacco and nearly 3,600 cigarettes without excise stamps from another man. The losses to the State Treasury in this case are initially estimated at PLN 100,000. In the same county, road traffic officers pursued a driver who failed to stop for a check. He was apprehended after a chase lasting several kilometres. It turned out that the driver was wanted to serve an outstanding prison sentence.

Lubań police officers, in turn, detained a man during a traffic check who was carrying narcotic substances. Several dozen portions of marijuana and methamphetamine were seized from him.

During the operation, Lubin police officers recovered a stolen vehicle. In the course of their work, they also detained two people suspected in the case. Two wanted persons and two people violating driving bans, as well as a man in possession of drugs, also fell into the hands of the officers.

Officers in Góra County detained a driver who, because of his condition, posed a danger to other road users. It turned out that the man had decided to drive under the influence of drugs. Another resident detained by the officers will face court for possession of narcotic substances.

Another stolen vehicle was recovered in Legnica County, where criminal investigators uncovered a passenger car lost as a result of a burglary. The police also apprehended a residential burglar who had stolen PLN 20,000.

Oława police officers, in turn, detained a man wanted to serve a prison sentence. The man was caught during a vehicle check conducted as part of the night operation.

In Bolesławiec County, the checks led to the identification of another person suspected of a drug offence. The person will face charges for possession of methamphetamine.

Another person suspected of a drug offence fell into the hands of Kamienna Góra police officers, who detained two perpetrators. One of them was carrying narcotic substances, while the other drove a car under their influence.

Operations conducted in Jelenia Góra County led to the detention of several suspects and six wanted persons. During the operation, officers detained, among others, three people in possession of drugs and three more drivers who had violated court-imposed bans.

Another wanted person was apprehended by Jawor police officers during the operation carried out on the night of 23–24 December.

Similar intensified night operations, conducted simultaneously in all counties of Lower Silesian Voivodeship, will continue.
