On March 1, 2020, the partially burned body of a man was found in a forest near Zgorzelec. It was established that the previous night in Zgorzelec, Dariusz O. killed the victim by shooting him in the head with a firearm. Then, together with Oliwer K., he transported the victim’s body to a forest near Zgorzelec, where they set it on fire in order to destroy evidence.
The 35-year-old Dariusz O. was charged with murder, as well as manufacturing a firearm and possessing pornography involving minors. The offenses with which he is charged carry a sentence of up to life imprisonment.
The 22-year-old Oliwer K. was charged with helping to conceal and desecrate the victim’s body. He faces up to 5 years in prison for the offense.
Both perpetrators had previously been convicted by the courts, including for offenses against property and offenses under the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction.
