New Year’s Eve under new rules
New Year’s Eve is a special day of the year. Each of us wants to spend it with friends and family. In the current situation, however, all kinds of events and gatherings create extremely dangerous conditions for further transmission of the coronavirus. Consequently, they are very dangerous for us and our loved ones. Therefore, stay at home and do not organise parties or social gatherings outside your household. Like many other European countries, Poland is also introducing restrictions on this day. From 31 December 2020 to 1 January 2021, between 19:00 and 6:00, a nationwide ban on movement will be in force. Exceptions will include, among other things, essential official duties and other activities specified in the regulation.
New safety rules – from 28 December to 17 January
We are extending the stage of responsibility and introducing additional restrictions. This is all to stop the transmission of COVID-19 and return to normality as soon as possible. The new safety rules will be in force from 28 December 2020 to 17 January 2021, that is, until the end of the school break. What will change?
- Another restriction on the operation of shopping centres – grocery shops, book and press shops, drugstores, pharmacies and standalone large-area furniture stores will remain open, among others,
- Restrictions on hotel operations – available to uniformed services, medical personnel, patients of specialist hospitals and COS centres. Employee hotels are also exempt,
- Ski slopes closed,
- Sports infrastructure available only as part of professional sport,
- A 10-day quarantine for people arriving in Poland by organised transport.
We are extending the existing rules and restrictions:
- A ban on people under 16 moving around without the supervision of a parent or legal guardian from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 16:00 (summer day camps are exempt),
- Restrictions on public transport: 50% of the number of seats, or 30% of all seating and standing capacity, while leaving at least 50% of the seats unoccupied in the vehicle,
- Restrictions in places of religious worship – maximum 1 person per 15 m²,
- Participation in gatherings – maximum 5 people,
- Ban on organising weddings, First Communion celebrations and funeral receptions,
- Gyms, fitness clubs and water parks closed,
- Restrictions in shops – maximum 1 person per 15 m²,
- Senior hours – Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 12:00,
- Restaurants closed. Meals available only for takeaway or delivery.
The other restrictions that were in force are being extended.
Healthy and safe Christmas
Christmas is ahead of us; it has always been a time for meeting family and friends. This year, however, will differ from previous years. The coming days will be a test of responsibility for all Poles. Let us make the wait for COVID-19 vaccinations safe for us and our loved ones. Follow the restrictions in force – spend Christmas with your household members and do not organise large gatherings. Remember that there is a limit on the number of guests you may invite – a maximum of 5 guests in total, in addition to the people who permanently live together.
