How much will it cost?

“Our goal is to carry out a vaccination programme that will allow us to achieve population immunity,” said minister Michał Dworczyk. “This is one of the largest logistical operations in the last several decades. The entire process will be carried out in a way that is convenient for citizens,” he added.

The primary objective presented in the programme is to provide vaccines that are:

  • safe and effective,
  • available in sufficient quantities,
  • available as soon as possible,
  • free of charge,
  • voluntary and easily accessible.

“By noon, the draft document will be posted on the websites of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health,” minister Michał Dworczyk announced. “Until Saturday, 12 December, we will collect all comments. On their basis, we will seek to improve the document so that it can be adopted by the Council of Ministers on 15 December.

The document consists of nine chapters describing, among other things, the efficacy and safety of vaccines, the procurement and financing process, distribution and logistics, medical recommendations and the organisation of vaccination centres, as well as the order of vaccinations.

Proposals for changes to the vaccination programme can be sent to: konsultacje-koronawirus@kprm.gov.pl.

How does the government intend to encourage Poles to get vaccinated?

Before vaccinations begin, the government plans to conduct a major information and participation campaign. The aim is to encourage as many citizens as possible to get vaccinated.

“We are preparing a comprehensive information package comprising a media campaign, a website devoted to vaccinations and a helpline,” said Health Minister Adam Niedzielski. “This will allow each of us to learn the details concerning vaccinations.”

Where will COVID-19 vaccination centres be located?

People interested in getting vaccinated will be able to do so:

  • at stationary POZ facilities,
  • at other stationary medical facilities,
  • through mobile vaccination teams,
  • at vaccination centres in reserve hospitals.

How will the vaccine be introduced into circulation?

KPRM:

Approval of the COVID-19 vaccine takes place with the consent of the European Commission.

The vaccine has already undergone, among other things, detailed laboratory testing. At the current stage, specialists from 27 EU countries are assessing the documentation. A vote by experts from the member states is then planned by 29 December. This process will conclude with a decision by the European Commission.

Officials add:

This means that the registration process for general vaccinations will most likely begin in the first quarter of 2021.
