Those expelled from the club representing Law and Justice in the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly are: Krzysztof Mróz, Przemysław Czarnecki, Marcin Krzyżanowski, Paweł Kura, Łukasz Lach, Ewelina Szydłowska-Kędziera and Magdalena Brodowska.
Jarosław Kaczyński’s decision was certainly influenced by dissatisfaction with the work of PiS councillors in the assembly. On September 29, the PiS leader was in Wrocław. During his Monday visit to the capital of Lower Silesia, Kaczyński also stoked fears of Germany and the region’s “regermanization.”
The expelled PiS councillors make no secret of their surprise and disappointment at Jarosław Kaczyński’s decision. Their statement appeared on the social media of former deputy marshal of the province Marcin Krzyżanowski:
We received yesterday’s decision concerning our expulsion from the PiS Councillors’ Club of the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly with sadness and surprise.
Some of us have been members of Law and Justice for years; others have supported the Polish patriotic camp for years through their social and local-government work. We are all united by the values on which Law and Justice’s statutes are based. From the moment we were elected to the Lower Silesian Regional Assembly, we also tried to work in this spirit—respecting one another, beyond the letter of the statutes and regulations. We believe that only this way of building relationships enables effective action and reflects the spirit of the Polish right.Unfortunately, some politicians and activists who repeatedly put their own ambitions above the good of our formation first led to a sharp conflict in the Law and Justice club of the Lower Silesian Assembly, and then to a split. We believe that the decision to expel us was made on the basis of a one-sided and untrue account of events, which prevented the national authorities from learning the actual picture of the situation.
It was precisely the cutting off of the club majority’s voice and preventing it from reaching the national authorities of Law and Justice that lay behind the decision taken by most councillors to dismiss the club’s previous leader. Unfortunately, instead of reflection on the part of those responsible for the conflict, this prompted further attacks, under whose influence yesterday’s personnel decisions were made.
Our priority remains the opportunity to present the real situation in the Lower Silesian structures of Law and Justice to Party President Jarosław Kaczyński. We believe that, with his support, we will be able to return to working within the formation with which we all identify.
