An emergency medical team was called at around 4 p.m. Unfortunately, the death of the 9-month-old child was confirmed. Because visible injuries were found on the child’s body, the paramedics called the police to the scene.
“Because the paramedics found injuries to the boy’s head, the police were called to the scene,” Lidia Tkaczyszyn, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica, told Onet. “The forensic medicine expert who arrived at the scene confirmed the injuries to the boy’s head, explicitly identifying craniocerebral injuries. As a result, we are conducting an investigation into the murder of the child,” she added.
The child also had injuries on his back. The child’s father has already been detained. The 46-year-old has a criminal record. At the time of his arrest, he had a blood alcohol level of 1.5 per mille.

The 46-year-old’s sister was also at the scene. She had come to the apartment, concerned after receiving a phone call from her brother. She called the ambulance and tried to resuscitate the boy until it arrived.
The child’s mother was not at home. “The woman had been searched for since yesterday; she was detained this morning,” Lidia Tkaczyszyn stressed.
The boy’s 42-year-old mother was also intoxicated. Investigators’ findings indicate that the woman is addicted to alcohol. She also has other older children, regarding whom she has been deprived of parental rights. “This is a dysfunctional family; the boy’s parents were not married and lived together in a cohabiting relationship,” the Legnica prosecutor’s office spokesperson said.
The exact causes of the child’s injuries and death will be established after the autopsy, which is scheduled to take place today.
