Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:
Officers from the Bolesławiec SPEED group conduct vehicle speed checks on various roads in the district. Particular attention is paid to speed in built-up areas, where the limit is 50 km/h. In October, officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police detained as many as 10 drivers who significantly exceeded the speed limit. The detained drivers lost their driving licences for three months and were also fined and given penalty points.
The dishonourable record holder was a 40-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County, who was speeding at 129 km/h. Meanwhile, a 28-year-old from Wrocław, despite having already left the motorway, did not ease off the accelerator and was travelling at 104 km/h in a built-up area. Another driver, a resident of Bolesławiec County, disregarded the limit and exceeded the permitted speed by 80 km/h.
Officers:
We appeal for common sense and ask drivers to ease off the accelerator. The weather, especially during transitional periods, can be highly changeable, and sunshine does not always mean a dry road surface. Drivers should therefore obey speed limits and adjust their speed to the prevailing conditions. Driving too fast not only risks losing your driving licence, but also poses a serious threat to the safety of all road users.
